Extremadura

A property situated in the middle of Extremadura. The gardens around the living areas, the patios, and paths are designed to integrate the stone buildings with the surrounding pastureland. Given the topography, vegetables are grown on terraces. A big pergola shading the perimeter of the house and its outbuildings is covered with heirloom roses, wisteria and Virginia creeper. Boundaries are marked by a drywall filled with woodland seeds to make the transition between lawn and fields as natural as possible. The vast, scrubby grassland beyond is visible from all parts of the property.
